The print tells the story of a recurring nightmare based on a personal experience Sundqvist had as an 18-year old in a German hospital. He woke up one night and could not breathe due to a pulmonary embolism which had clogged the oxygen supply to his airways. He spent several days in a state of limbo and then several months in recovery. It changed him forever — the way he thought about life and death. The story turned out to his favor, yet 30 years later, he is still haunted by memories of gasping for air. Several years after completing the print, the word "breathe" has taken on additional meaning.
